What GoHighLevel Really Costs Over Five Years
$297 a month sounds like a tool. Over five years it's $17,820, the price of a used car. Here's the full math, plan by plan, and what owning instead looks like.
Monthly pricing is designed to feel small. $297 is a nice dinner for two, a couple of stock-photo subscriptions, one decent freelancer hour. Nobody agonizes over $297.
That’s the point. Software subscriptions are priced per month because a month is the unit at which the cost feels like nothing. Agencies don’t live for a month, though. They live for years, and that’s the unit to price your CRM in.
The plan-by-plan math
GoHighLevel’s three plans at monthly list price, as of October 2026:
| Plan | Per month | Per year | 3 years | 5 years |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $97 | $1,164 | $3,492 | $5,820 |
| Unlimited | $297 | $3,564 | $10,692 | $17,820 |
| Agency Pro | $497 | $5,964 | $17,892 | $29,820 |
And Seedly CRM: $1,599, once. Add hosting, which Seedly puts at $25 to $200 a month for typical installs. At $50 a month that’s $4,599 over five years, all in.
Why most agencies end up on Unlimited, not Starter
Starter caps you at three sub-accounts. If you serve clients, you’ll pass three quickly, and then the “starting at $97” number stops being your number. Unlimited at $297 is the realistic baseline for a working agency. If you want to resell the platform as your own SaaS, with markup on usage, that’s Agency Pro at $497.
Seedly has no tiers to climb. Unlimited instances, unlimited sub-accounts, unlimited seats, and the rebilling engine (wallets, plans, recurring fees, per-channel markup) are in the one license.
The break-even point
Break-even is just the license divided by what you stop paying each month:
- vs Starter: $1,599 ÷ ($97 − $50) ≈ month 35
- vs Unlimited: $1,599 ÷ ($297 − $50) ≈ month 7
- vs Agency Pro: $1,599 ÷ ($497 − $50) ≈ month 4
If you’re on Starter with three clients and no plans to grow, the case is weaker, and we’ll say so. For everyone else, ownership pays off within the first year and keeps paying after that.
Try your own numbers. Hosting costs vary with how busy your sub-accounts are. The cost calculator lets you set your plan, hosting budget and time horizon.
Costs that don’t change either way
Some costs follow you whichever platform you pick, and it’s worth naming them so nobody feels tricked:
- SMS and calls. GoHighLevel bills phone usage through its own system. Seedly uses your Twilio (or Telnyx) account directly. In the US that’s roughly $0.0079 per text and about $1 a month per number.
- Email sending. Per-use either way. On Seedly it’s your SendGrid, Postmark or Amazon SES account.
- US SMS registration (A2P 10DLC). Carriers require it on every platform: about $4 for the brand, $10 for the campaign and $1.50 a month.
- Payment processing. Stripe takes its cut whether the invoice comes from Seedly or GoHighLevel.
What the subscription doesn’t show you
The bigger cost of renting doesn’t show up on the invoice at all:
- Price changes are someone else’s decision. You can’t negotiate with a pricing page.
- Features change under you. An update that rearranges a screen your clients use is your support ticket, not the vendor’s.
- Leaving is expensive. Rebuilding workflows, retraining clients and moving numbers is the lock-in, and the vendor knows it.
With Seedly the code sits in your own GitHub, the data sits in your own Convex account, and updates arrive only when you merge them.
The takeaway
$297 a month isn’t a tool. It’s a $17,820 commitment you make one month at a time. If your agency plans to be around in 2031, the better question is why you’d rent at all.
