Seedly CRM 5.9: What's New, and Why the Pace Matters

Amazon SES, HIPAA mode, a Google Local Services lead assistant and a security overhaul in 5.9, on top of 18 releases in September alone. What changed, why it matters and why now is the time to buy.

Short version: Seedly CRM 5.9 is the most complete version yet, and it arrives on top of the busiest month of development the product has had. If you’ve been waiting for Seedly to mature before you switch, it already has.

The current release is 5.9.1, shipped October 4, 2026. Here’s what’s in it, what came just before it, and why the speed of releases matters as much as any one feature.

What’s new in 5.9

Amazon SES as a third email provider

Postmark and SendGrid are now joined by Amazon SES, connected with an AWS access key at the agency, brand or sub-account level. Seedly sets up sending, bounce and complaint tracking in your AWS account for you, and can receive replies too. SES is about as cheap as email sending gets at volume, and it’s the provider that makes the next feature possible.

HIPAA mode

One agency-wide switch under Settings → Compliance. It enforces two-step sign-in for every member, signs out idle users, records who opened which contact, conversation or document in the audit log, keeps those logs for six years, keeps patient details out of outbound notifications, and blocks integrations that can’t sign a Business Associate Agreement. It doesn’t make you compliant by itself, as Seedly is careful to say, but it opens up clinics, med spas and therapists as clients. Full breakdown here.

A lead assistant for Google Local Services Ads

Google can’t mark a Local Services lead as booked for you. Seedly now does the next best thing: calls on a Local Services tracking number are recorded and transcribed, AI pulls out the caller, the job, the location and whether it was booked, and your team gets one email per call saying exactly what to enter in the Google Ads lead inbox. New callers are tagged with the source Local Services Ads, and the Paid Ads tab now shows a real return on ad spend (ROAS) for the campaign instead of a dash. For home-service agencies, this is the kind of feature you’d usually need an extra tool for.

Finer permissions

Roles get new record scopes, Own + Unassigned and Team + Unassigned, for contacts, conversations, deals and calendars. Scope now applies everywhere a record can be reached (search, exports, the dialer, invoices, workflows), not just in lists.

A security release worth installing

5.9.0 closes a set of paths where a user in one client account, brand or agency could reach records that weren’t theirs. Webhooks, stored files, calendars, forms, documents, the REST API and Stripe refunds were all tightened. Server logs no longer print contact names, emails or phone numbers. Seedly flags this release as one to install, with a step-by-step box of commands to run after updating. That openness is the point: you can read exactly what was fixed.

Email that respects opt-outs properly

A contact who opts out of marketing email now still gets transactional email (invoices, appointment confirmations), and each To, Cc and Bcc recipient is checked separately. Workflow email steps now work out whether they’re marketing or transactional from what triggered them. Gmail became personal to each user, so teammates can see that a message exists without reading it.

5.9.1, out the same day, is a small follow-up: the email preference center no longer reveals whether an address belongs to one of your contacts.

The month before: 18 releases in September

5.9 didn’t arrive out of nowhere. Seedly shipped versions 5.8.0 through 5.8.17 in September 2026. The highlights:

  • Import your opportunities from GoHighLevel. A guided import brings a GoHighLevel opportunities export across with pipeline, stage, value and history intact, matched to your contacts. It fires no automations and keeps the original dates, so a back catalogue never looks like hundreds of new leads. Updated migration guide.
  • Workflows with up to 20 triggers, plus a Publish changes button so edits to a live workflow don’t go live until you say so.
  • AI setters that close. One-click setup for CloseBot AI auto-reply, and booking bots can now quote prices from your service list and close on a quote a customer already has.
  • Google Business Profile posts published directly through Google, with event and offer details, multi-location targeting, duplication and review-before-publish.
  • Return on ad spend on the Paid Ads tab.
  • SMS consent done right: Marketing vs Transactional message types on SMS steps, consent captured on booking pages and CSV import, and an API check for whether a contact can be messaged.
  • Daily quality-of-life fixes: sortable tables everywhere, task due-date filters, one daily task summary per person instead of an alert per task, booking confirmations for new appointments.

And over the summer

  • HTML email campaigns in a proper code editor, reusable email layouts, and campaign links that run through your own tracking domain
  • Campaigns API: create, send and schedule email campaigns from code
  • An add-on platform: installed add-ons can add their own API endpoints, notifications and billing hooks
  • Sign, then pay: customers can pay right after signing an estimate
  • Product photos on invoice and estimate line items

Why this version is the better buy

Every one of those features ships to new buyers at the same $1,599. Two of them change the case for switching:

  1. Leaving GoHighLevel is easier than it’s ever been. Contacts import with custom-field mapping, and now opportunities come across with their pipeline history.
  2. The client base you can serve is wider. HIPAA mode brings in healthcare. The Local Services assistant makes Seedly a strong fit for home-service agencies, one of the biggest markets GoHighLevel sells into.

Will it keep being developed?

Nobody can promise the future of a product, and Seedly’s license doesn’t promise updates either. What you can judge is the track record, and the track record is strong:

Month (2026) Releases
June (from the 24th) 5
July 3
August 4
September 18
October (to the 4th) 2

That’s 32 releases in just over three months, with pace picking up rather than tapering off. Other signals point the same way:

  • The product line is growing. Seedly now spans Seedly CRM, Seedly Sites, Seedly Communities, Seedly Dispatch and the Operator’s Guide.
  • The release notes are written for operators. Every version opens with either “no action required” or an “action required” box that says what each command does, whether it changes your data, and what goes wrong if you skip it. Teams planning to stop don’t write notes like that.
  • An add-on platform means other people can build on Seedly too, which gives the ecosystem more reasons to keep going.

And even if development stopped tomorrow, your copy would keep running exactly as it does today. That’s the advantage of owning the software over renting it.

Why now beats later

Waiting costs you money, and it’s easy to count

On GoHighLevel Unlimited, every month of “I’ll switch later” is another $297 that buys you nothing permanent. Wait six months and you’ve spent $1,782, more than the entire Seedly license. Run your own numbers.

Today’s price is locked in for good, and only today’s price is

Seedly sets its price, and nothing obliges it to stay at $1,599. We have no inside information on pricing and Seedly hasn’t announced a change. But this is a product shipping new features weekly, adding product lines and drawing agencies away from GoHighLevel, and products in that position tend to be priced up as they mature. A one-time license is the one purchase where buying early is a lasting advantage: whatever the price does later, yours doesn’t change.

You get on the curve early

Buy now and you set up on the most complete version yet, with a GoHighLevel importer to bring your pipeline across. Updates are yours to apply when you choose, so every release from here on is extra value at no extra cost.

Already own Seedly? How to update

Updates are opt-in. Pull the new version, read the entry for each version you’re skipping, and run any Action required commands right after deploying. For 5.9.0 that list matters, since it’s a security release. Seedly’s guide SETUP/operations/09-updating-to-a-new-version.md walks through it, and Claude Code can apply updates to a customized copy for you.

Questions people ask

What is the latest version of Seedly CRM?

Version 5.9.1, released October 4, 2026, alongside 5.9.0. Version 5.9.0 added Amazon SES as an email provider, an optional HIPAA mode, new record-scope options on roles and a Google Local Services lead assistant, and closed a set of cross-account access issues. 5.9.1 is a small security follow-up.

How often is Seedly CRM updated?

Frequently. The changelog lists 32 releases between June 24 and October 4, 2026, including 18 in September 2026 alone. Updates are opt-in: you apply them to your own copy when you choose.

Can I import my GoHighLevel opportunities into Seedly CRM?

Yes. Since version 5.8.5, a guided import brings a GoHighLevel opportunities export into Seedly with pipeline, stage, value and history intact, matched to existing contacts, without firing automations or changing original dates.

Will Seedly CRM's price go up?

Seedly hasn't announced a price change, and we have no inside information. The price is Seedly's to set. Buying now locks in today's $1,599 permanently, because the license is a one-time, perpetual purchase.
