The Seedly CRM License, Read Line by Line

Unlimited instances, full modification rights, rename it as your own product. What the Seedly commercial license allows, what it forbids, and why the short version is honest.

Most software licenses are written so you won’t read them. Seedly’s opens with a plain-English summary and says, “That is the entirety of the deal.” We checked whether the formal sections match that summary. They do.

What you’re buying

The license grants a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to the source code. Taking those one at a time:

  • Perpetual: it doesn’t expire, and there’s no renewal.
  • Worldwide: run it for clients anywhere.
  • Non-exclusive: other people own copies too. You aren’t buying the company.
  • Non-transferable: you can’t sell your license to someone else.

The five rights that matter

1. Unlimited CRM instances

You may operate “an unlimited number of CRM Instances, whether for the Licensee’s own benefit or on behalf of third-party clients.” Each instance can hold multiple brands and sub-accounts. There’s no seat counting and no instance cap.

2. Modify anything

You may add features, remove features, integrate with other services and create derivative works. The modifications you write are owned by you.

3. Rename it

This is the clause agencies care about. You may change branding, “including renaming the product.” Your clients log into YourBrand CRM. Seedly’s name doesn’t need to appear anywhere a client sees, apart from an attribution note such as a privacy-policy mention if you choose to make one.

4. Host it anywhere

Vercel, your own servers, wherever. No approved-host list.

5. Keep it private

No obligation to share changes back. Your custom workflows and integrations remain your competitive edge.

The restrictions (all four of them)

Without written permission you may not:

  1. Resell or redistribute the code itself. Selling access to a running CRM is fine. Selling copies of the codebase isn’t.
  2. Build a competing CRM product for other CRM operators. Running CRMs for clients as an agency is explicitly not a competing product.
  3. Remove the license file or copyright notices from the code.
  4. Use Seedly’s trademarks to promote your deployment, beyond disclosing where the software came from.

That’s the list. Nothing restricts how many clients you serve, what you charge them or which industries you work in.

The fine print worth knowing

We’d rather you read this here than discover it later:

  • Updates are at Seedly’s discretion. The license covers the version you bought. Seedly does ship updates (its changelog is long and detailed), but they aren’t contractually promised. Seedly’s own approach is that releases focus on critical fixes and that you pull them on your own schedule.
  • Support isn’t included in the license. The official channel is the Seedly community, and paid help may be available.
  • Third-party services are your relationship. Convex, Vercel, Twilio, Stripe and the rest bill you directly, under their own terms.
  • Standard “as is” warranty language and a liability cap at what you paid. Every source-code license has this.

Why this beats a subscription agreement

A subscription agreement is a right to access software for as long as you keep paying, on terms the vendor can revise. The Seedly license is a right to possess software, permanently, on terms frozen at version 1.0, dated May 2, 2026.

The difference shows up the day something changes. When a SaaS vendor changes direction, you adapt. When Seedly changes direction, your copy keeps running exactly as it did.

Questions people ask

Can I rebrand Seedly CRM as my own software?

Yes. The Seedly CRM commercial license explicitly permits changing branding, including renaming the product, and running it for clients.

Can I resell Seedly CRM?

You can sell access to CRM instances you run for clients. You cannot resell, redistribute, sublicense or open-source the codebase itself, and you cannot use it to build a competing CRM product sold to other CRM operators.

Is the Seedly CRM license perpetual?

Yes. It is a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, non-transferable license. It ends only if you materially breach its restrictions.
